The Refinery’s Challenge: A major refinery was looking to reduce costs on the transfer hoses they used during a turnaround of a large waste (“slop”) tank without compromising the integrity of the system. Leaks were simply not an option.
The Baker Solution: Baker installed, fused, and hydro-tested 1200’ of HDPE (high density poly ethylene) pipe to gain customer confidence and overcome their bias for their old metal pipe. Baker also provided 70 21,000-gallon tanks to store the slop waste. The result; the refinery realized a significant cost savings—with zero leaks or failures—and decided to keep the system at a standby rate for another large project scheduled for months later.
