The Bypass Challenge: Emergency replacement of a spool piece in the force main of the main lift pump station at a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). The temporary bypass needed to handle at least 15 MGD (million gallons per day), with 2100’ of discharge pipe to the WWTP.
The Baker Solution: As soon as Baker received the customer call, trucks were loaded and rolled out to the jobsite with full loads of 18” HDPE pipe. Two fusion machines and technicians fused over the weekend to connect 2100’ of 18” HDPE pipe from the pump station to the treatment plant. Baker worked hand-in-hand with the customer’s contractor and their sub-contractor to install the bypass—with additional personnel on hand to assist in the start-up of the five diesel-driven pump-sets.
