The Groundwater Challenge: Builders on Coronado Island needed a way to keep a 15’ deep basement excavation dry during a 2-month long construction project with a groundwater inflow rate of approximately 65 gpm (gallons per minute).
The Baker Groundwater Solution: Six 30’-deep dewatering wells drilled at 50’ intervals around plotted excavation. The wells’ pumps were then piped and manifolded to one 4000-gallon Baker poly tank to allow the groundwater’s silt to settle out. Next, the water was sent through a flowmeter and a bag filtration system that met the City of Coronado’s clean-water specifications prior to discharge to the nearby sewer.
